Hey, I ended up going back to bed at 5:30 am, so it COULD have been the 5 am broadcast....I was a little zonked out.

I know what you mean about early morning broadcasts, but I rarely turn it on unless I FEEL like something's happening......and that is rare.
The morning of 9/11 I was up early, restless....I felt something in the air (and that year I was working nights, so I was never up that early).
I woke out of a dead sleep at 8:30 am and started wandering around the house feeling anxious and looking outside because SOMETHING felt ominous. When I turned on the TV and heard all the airports were closed across the country, I thought it was some freak weather storm moving in........so I sat down and watched it all unfold.

By the time the second plane hit, I was dressed and on my way to the bank to pull out major cash in case there was a complete shutdown of the country.
I didn't know what was happening.
