Pax Battery
I stumbled on one while hiking in Marin County, once. All the hardware had been removed, but it was pretty easy to figure out what had been there. It had the same feeling about it as a Spanish American War era fort that is on Mullet Key at the entrance to Tampa Bay. Spooky old ruins, where late the the angry guns sang.
