The Constitution guarantees that anybody who wants to can form a political party if he can get enough people together. It does not guarantee that any political party will survive when it loses touch with the will of the common citizen. If the Democratic Party self-destructs, it has only itself to blame.

Frankly, I doubt it. If the Democratic Party survived Jimmy Carter, it can survive anything.
