I didn't say it was a common usage. But people coin words all the time. For example what the commander of a vessel is called could vary ship to ship. Radio operators for the Navy probably use unique terms- not used by rest of navy crew. Army supply officer probably have different lingo then the grunts.

But all this speculation is based upon someone who was so stoned that "apparently" he found out that there were spaceship with name that he didn't bother to remember or write it down somewhere- that's pretty stoned.
