If lyme disease breaks down the immune system (it's a virus, isn't it), then these people might benefit from Interferon, no? I also started taking glyconutrients a year and a half ago and have one of the strongest immune systems I've ever had my whole life. Haven't had a cold or even a sore throat since then.
Maybe these people would benefit by it to get their cells communicating properly in the first place and boost their immune systems.
