I did mechanical and fluid work (valves, tubing, filters, etc.) for the helium gas management system. I did a lot of work on a prototype test unit that was supposed to fly on an MPSS on the Shuttle, but that was cancelled.
Most of the cryogenic/magnetic physics of the actual instrument unit was over my head.
