Are you sure it would be safe for that spacecraft to come down in, say, a thunderstorm?
I don't recall many US missions pre-Space Shuttle coming down in bad weather, and
the few Soviet ones that did almost lost their crews (one landed on a frozen lake in
a blizzard).
