Republicans need to understand

that fighting and winning the war against Islamic terrorism involves much more than standing on aircraft carriers, making macho statements like "bring it on!", and squandering vast resources (and lives) in unnecessary wars against regimes that are bad but totally unrelated to the world-wide scourge of Islamic terrorism. Frankly we can't afford that kind of amateur incompetence in the face of the dire threat that exists out there. Al Queda and its many supporters in the Muslim world are desparately seeking to obtain WMD and we've got to be more serious about our targets, our priorities, our allocation of resources, and our leadership in this war.

Sure, the Clinton administration was weak in response to Islamic terrorism in the 1990's. Tossing a mere and ineffectual handful of missiles at bin Laden's camp in Afghanistan after those bastards bombed the US embassies in Africa was pathetic. But where were the Republicans during the years Al Queda was plotting the Sep. 11 attacks? They were more interested in Bill Clinton's penis than his foreign policy. I would hope that both parties woke out and got serious after Sep. 11.

We do need a leader with Bush's strong committment to fight terrorism. We just need one who also has brains and acts more wisely.
