I could argue from a financial perspective that Rome conquered the Jews, stole their treasure, (hoarded by the Jewish King), for an immense profit. Then they established Roman rule which produced a thriving economy and greatly improved the local economy and standard of living.
This does not take into account the loss of life on both sides and the unhappiness of being ruled by the Romans.
Morally and ethically you are right and my argument is specious.
