Man, I wish I held the patent on DNA. Can you imagine collecting royalties from every living thing on Earth??? Wow! You'd end up richer than Bill Gates!
And speaking of Gates, of course we'd need interoperability and standardization, so I'd expect about 95% of living things to use Genuine CrickDNA™, and the other 5% to use a mix of off-brand DNA, like AppleDNA™ and open source LinuxDNA™. Microsoft has a product called "DNA", but I just checked, and they don't seem to have trademarked "DNA". I guess Crick got there first.
