"Should we reconsider the findings of multiple agencies and researchers based on Wegman's work?
Answer: "Of course not" "
And I agree, of course not.
Mann's work was a reconstruction of last 1000 years, using data complied from scientific research. The exact method of this reconstruction needs to be replicated to scientifically validate it. This hasn't been done and Mann is giving lame excuses as to why he won't cooperate.
Many scientist probably assumed this was already done- but it wasn't and Mann has as far as I know at the moment is still refusing to allow this.
Let's review: The Hockey Stick indicates that present global temperature is warmest in 1000 years.
If you have been following this, you now know that this claim hasn't any basis to be accepted with any confidence.
At this point there no reason to accept that today's temperature is the warmest it has been in 1000 year- and there is wealth of data which argues against this, but at same time there is a fair amount of uncertainty of what precisely global temperature were 1000 or even 200 year ago.
You *could* say with some confident that recent temperature appears warmer than in the last 400 years. You can do this because we have fair amount certainty with recent global temperature of last 100 years or so, and we fairly certain we were in the Little Ice Age 400 years ago [much cooler than today, roughly 1-3 C cooler]. But this isn't anything new or controversial, and basically unrelated to Mann's work. Or you could say that today *might* be warmer than in last 1000 or 2000 or 3000 or 4000 or 5000 years, but it's probably not true.
ANYWAYS, this not directly related to most work done on Climate Change, so of course you shouldn't "reconsider the findings of multiple agencies and researchers".
That question may have been intended to imply that all the finding "of multiple agencies and researchers" depends or supports Mann's work. Which of course is plainly a stupid thing to ask or imply. Or in other words this was a throw away question. A red herring. Or a more kind way of saying it, a question to frame the discussion.
