Tomahawk Cruise Missile Ends Up On Roadway
(New York - AP, July 21, 2006) - When big rigs collide, all sorts of cargo spills on the highway. But today, something extraordinary: A Tomahawk cruise missile went flying onto the New England Thruway.
Newscopter Seven was over the southbound lanes near the exit for the Hutchinson Parkway at six this morning. That's where a flatbed truck carrying the missile collided with a tractor-trailer.
The NYPD bomb squad quickly determined the missile was inert and posed no danger, just a headache for morning commuters.
Traffic was backed up for miles. The missile was removed, and the lanes reopened.
