Pasadena CA (SPX) Aug 03, 2006
Attention Astronomers: Here's Your Chance to Save the World.
The Planetary Society Calls for New Gene Shoemaker Near Earth Object Grant Proposals "Cataclysmic impacts are a fact of life in our solar system," said Bruce Betts, the society's director of projects. "Asteroids or comets have hit the Earth many times in our past, but now we have the ability to find and track near-Earth objects to determine which - if any - pose a threat."
