...not that I automatically disbelieve anything Wickramasinghe sprouts, but he has made so many bogus claims I find it really hard to accept anything he says - I look for an alternative explanation first.
As for the "Archie" hoax another scientist in on that gag was Dr. Lee Spetner who has made some curious claims about mutation and evolution in a recent book. Since he has already shown a lack of discernment and a metaphysical bias I wasn't surprised when I discovered he's the current darling of whacko creationists.
