Searching for Earth II in the Centauri System
Here's some thoughts & efforts on searching for terrestrial planets around Alpha Centauri B. From what we currently understand about planetary formation, this metal rich star system is a strong candidate to produce terrestrial planets, and in stable orbits over gigayears. The worry over the planets lacking volitiles is somewhat mitigated by the fact that Proxima would send volitile rich Alpha Centauri Ort cloud comets into the inner system.
What strikes me is that a wealthy philanthropist could easily fund a specific effort now to detect and thereby quite possibly name any such planets.
