The (in)famous Keith Cowing is annoyed - nothing new in that. This time it's the grammar of a Nasa press release that irks him in his blog. However, Cowing shoots himself in the foor by writing:
Editor's note: This document was clearly written by NASA personnel. You'd think that such a document - one that might be read by professional educators and people outside of NASA (the purpose of the press release, I would assume) - would at least have gone through a screening by a professional editor first - both for grammar - and accuracy.
This in itself, is not good grammar. Firstly, if the "docuument was clearly written" then it means it is written in a clear way NOT that it's clear that Nasa wrote it. Secondly, his use of hyphens is incorrect. Hyphens are not just to provide a pause in a sentence, commas do that. It is a common mistake. He also writes "I would assume." Well, does he or does he not assume? This is sloppy writing.
He should not throw stones.
