I have a filter at the domain registry Network Solutions that lets me know if Internet names containing "space", "Mars", and a few other keywords become available when the owner stops paying the registration fees. Usually the results are pretty lame, with the keyword showing up only peripherally, like the "mars" in "MARSDENFAMILYCHIROPRACTIC.COM". But this morning's report had a few that might be of interest to space cadets:
ABOUTSPACESTORAGE.COM
PRINTS-SPACE.COM
SPACECRAFTSALES.COM
SPACEFIRE.NET
SPACESONGS.COM
I thought of Daniel when I saw "spacesongs.com", and our space entrepreneurs when I saw "spacecraftsales.com", Doug when I saw "prints-space.com".
The registration's expired on these names, but they won't be up for sale free-and-clear for a while yet. What you do is place a "backorder" through a registrar, which enters you in an auction in case there's more than one backorder. Pricing starts at $60 through Network Solutions (don't know how other registrars do it). NetSol's Search for expired domain names page is where you'd start.
If somebody picks up one of the names, lemme know if you need hosting and email service for it.
