We're only a couple months away now from the beginning of the science phase of the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter mission. You have to be excited about some of the stuff you read about the imaging capabilities of this thing, but I'm still not sure quite what to expect. What could we compare it to? Will the images be significantly better than the ones from Mars Express? Could it be sort of the Mars version of Google Earth or would that be way off base? Hopefully, the images will be of sufficient quality to give us somewhat of a natural view of the more exotic areas of the planet. Either way, I'm sure it will be a very interesting mission, but I'm hoping it lives up to the hype and gives us a dramatically better view of Mars than anthing we've had before.
