Thanks, Tom. People tend to forget that magnificent military machine we have is actually run by teen-agers.
My Dewey (DLG-14, later reclassed DDG-45) was steam turbine, but the steam was generated in separate boilers fired by bunker fuel. My guess is this new class is gas turbine operated (internal combustion with kerosene), so it probably does run a little cleaner.
Dewey was broken up in a Mexican shipyard after being decommissioned in the 90s. She is now just a footnote in history,
