The Helicopter analogy
The helicopter analogy for the HiRISE camera is an interesting and exciting one. That is something I've been thinking about lately as the mission starts to draw nearer: Will Mars Recon give us a halfway realistic look at the landscape, the type of images the general public can relate to? That seems to be the expectation and it's good to hear. I suspect the average person's main image of Mars is of a place with a very flat terrain with tons of rocks scattered about. Maybe Mars Recon will give us a decent view of some of the more exotic places on the planet.
