How excess begets excess? This could have been named the Swiftboat Veteran's Act. Up until Thursday, the right to lie about political candidates has always been a part of the American political spectrum; unless you choose to believe that John Quincy Adams actually acted as a pimp and procured sexual partners for the Russian Embassy staff.

I haven't read McCain-Feingold yet, but now I will. I certainly didn't previously understand this was the purpose of this bill, and I certainly don't understand the court upholding it. BTW, the post intimates the Supreme Court has given an inprimatur to this bill. How is this possible? If this is effective as law next Thursday, obviously no court test could be made a priori. Was there some way the court claimed Original Jurisdiction on this matter? Please clarify your statement.
