re: Moon's partial eclipse being "hooped"

Interesting... And following another couple links off the site...

Specifically, the link toward the bottom entitled "What is the interplanetary magnetic field? - A lucid answer from the University of Michigan"
http://www.windows.ucar.edu/cgi-bin/tour_def/glossary/IMF.html

And from there, the link "The Sun's Magnetic Field - New and Improved Model?"
http://www.windows.ucar.edu/tour/link=/headline_universe/fisk.html

Interestingly, the "New and improved model" seems to be considerably more turbulent than the old model. And it rather interestingly parallels a few other things I've been reading lately. Namely:

That being said, they also say it's a "new model" and "requires further testing," so the jury is out.

But it's interesting to note that theory seems to be more and more closely approximating the theories espoused by the Electric Universe model of a stellar z-pinch formation along the line of a giant revolving Birkeland current (which may well be turbulent to some degree due to the nature of the electrical processes going on, rather than a a more "symmetrical" structure predicted by looking at the funnel vortexes formed by drains or whatnot).

The essentially 2D flat ring structure of Saturn and other planets makes more sense if they're rotating around an electromagnetic axis, rather than a center of gravity (where we would generally expect 3D rotation kind of like a gyroscope, rather than in a 2D plane like weights attached to strings and tied to a point on a pole that is then spun very quickly).

I just thought it was interesting that they're modelling based on newer better info and roughly approximating what the EU model suggests the model SHOULD look like (IE slightly turbulent rotating electrical charges at the poles and the attendant torus ring of magnetic field around the central pinch, with everything else rotating in a relatively flat plane around the axis of rotation/electric current; hence we don't generally see spheres of solar systems rotating around a "point" center of gravity in 3D, but flat rotating disks of solar systems rotating around an electromagnetic axis in essentially 2D).

My 2c. But neither here nor there. Enjoy with a grain of salt, or maybe the whole shaker. ;o]
