Guerilla warfare - if you aren't winning, you're losing. US Special Forces doctrine.

"Bombs bring rural insurgency to Afghan capital. Latest attack killed 14 Afghans, 2 U.S. soldiers."

It's been years and years, and the wars against these Third World backward countries goes on with more and more violence. If a nation the size of the US can't subjugate these countries in 3 years, can it do it? Without a drastic change in policies, leadership and tactics?

Clearly the tactics being used are not bringing the results desired. The US, Coalition and NATO are being beaten. They do not control the countrysides, are not making headway with hearts and minds. Just the opposite.

When your military cannot even control the capital of an invaded, defeated country, after over 3 years, what's next?

It seems like all tunnel. Where is the light? What color is it? How far away? After all the failed plans, broken promises, lack of planning, and doing the best they can, the leadership has brought these countries and the US exactly here.

What would lead one to believe there is a light when by their own definition the US is losing?

Arf (Keep doing what you've been doing, and you'll keep getting what you've been getting, Bow. Yep. Life is lived forward, but understood backward.

PS "Special Forces doctrine held that if a guerilla insurgency survives and grows, it is by definition winning." George Criles, "Charlie Wilson's War", Grove Press.
