Possible meteorite found on Aurora golf course
September 15, 2006 - A grounds superintendent at a suburban golf course may have made an out-of-this world discovery.
Grounds superintendent John Gurke found tiny rocks that appear to be part of a meteorite on the 14th hole at the Aurora Country Club. He said the rock, which was dead center on the green, left a burn mark
Scientists at the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy said the rock "has all the hallmarks of a meteorite" but more conclusive tests will need to be conducted.
