And a nice right wing version where those taking democracy to the streets excesses are adequately curtailed is the version Bush extolls.
Why just look at the mess in Mexico right now. The people are outraged and protesting in the streets, disrupting traffic, commerce and an orderly transfer of power from the Fox government. Just because they refuse to accept the government voting tally and are so obdurate as to actually want their votes to be counted........well, I ask you.
Democracy isn't always a neat form of governance. Voting every four years and being quiet during the interim period does not always define democracy. The power structure has reason to fear when the people are moved to take to the streets. This is a prospect that scares the Republicans to death, and rightly so. Accepting a military coup and having a junta or an authoritarin Army leader is the orderly progression that at least contains the excesses. Much safer, much neater; but it just ain't democracy.
