Oral equivalent of a typo.
My Mark I analogue brain heard "for man". As did the ROW. In speech, it's what folks hear that's important. That's why we talk.
I believe he had rehearsed "for a man", wanted to say that , and got excited, more interested in the moment than the words.
And so I interpret it as "for a man". A typo, so to speak. No biggie. I know what he meant.
At this point it's OK to believe that. Makes no difference.
