Straining at gnats, persure

We're literally down in the noise looking for the signal: The closeup of the area of beret from which the patch had been (allegedly) removed that was supposed to "clearly" show the tampering looked no different from JPEG noise to me. Shapes in the noise...silly to go chasing after them, all you find is Rorschach. I can produce perfect digital fakes, so I could get lost in the house of mirrors speculating that an imperfect fake is a plant, a digital agent provocateur...or maybe it's just an inept fake. That way lies madness...or is it more accurately called "political anomalism"?
