re: "Spiderweb Galaxy" - New Hubble Images

I hope they have a better picture than the one provided here... This seems grainy and fairly low-res, even the "high" res version from the originating site seems fairly pitiful for making such broad, sweeping generalizations.

Firstly, are ty sure the galaxies are moving inward and not outward? Or are the researchers just seeing what they want to see?

Secondly, there seem to be a number of assumptions in the article, notably the redshift=distance relationship has all but been disproven repeatedly by Halton Arp. If redshift =/=, then the assumption that this shows galaxies shortly after the big bang is wrong. In fact, if the redshift is intrinsic as Arp has suggested, this might actually be a much closer young galaxy. I'd be intrested in seeing the redshift measurements of the constituent galaxies that are supposed to be "colliding." Arp's theory could (if the colliding galaxies are higher redshifted than the central portion) show that the supposedly "colliding" galaxies are actually ejected galaxies/stars.

Anyway, I'd be interested to see more info about the galaxies' redshifts relative to each other. I'd also laugh if they found the redshifts of the constituents to be discordant to the center, as so many Arp objects have been.

Andas I've said on prior posts, I really hate articles that present theory as fact and also provide insufficient images and data to correctly interpret or understand where the assertions in he article come from.

Anywho... If anyone happens to have any data on redshifts of the individual constituents, and/or relative velocities versus each other to PROVE the stars are travelling toward each other rather than being ejected in different directions (like the ejected items in Einstein's cross, which has been horribly misinterpreted as gravitational lensing, as well). Would be interesting to see more technical data on this photo and higher res shots of just that particular region they're claiming is colliding.
