You need to look up what a lobbyist does. Abramoff wasn't spending tax money.

He does owe tax money, about $1.7 million or so, which is about fifty seconds worth of the annual spending on entitlements in this country.

This looks so good on a leftist protest sign, especially when they get the spelling right, but nobody has ever been able to explain to me exactly the process by which a dollar moves from the pocket of a poor person into the pocket of a rich one. The poor don't pay income taxes, so they don't have to make up what the rich aren't paying.

What this phrase actually means is "we aren't looting nearly as much from the rich to buy the votes of the poor as we ought to be," but this doesn't look as good on a sign, and leftists have trouble spelling "ought."
