I was born in '74
My memory may not be giving me the right timeline. I know we made the transition to PCs in the house after 6th grade- because after 6th grade was when I started home schooling, and I recall helping set it up (watching, really, my dad do it) and install it on one of my 'school days', which I was jazzed about. but when my adventure with VisualBasic started could have been later, or it could have been some other Basic on the PC before that. Does a glossy manual with a multi-colored toroid on the front ring a bell? Because thats what I believe the product shipped with, and was the program I started toying with (sample code was packaged with it). Most of my early programming centered around graphics (not anything of note!)
I was also held back a year (actually, held back and put in with the retarded special-needs kids!), mainly for being strange and not doing naything I was told (pasting yellow cars in front of blue cars, etc). So 6th grade was actually 7th grade. Futher complicates timelines.
