U.S. can't leave one of the world's largest oil reserves in terrorist hands.
Oil is a power because it has a market, therefore customers.
Oil producer's interest is to sell that oil to as many countries and customers as possible, amassing as much money as possible.
Terrorists don't do that at all. Terrorists use terror, they hurt, they don't sell oil. If they did, let's imagine, then they'd become like any other oil producer needing clients.
This is why the neocons are totally wrong : they mix terrorism with governments (or even companies). We know that's wrong. Perhaps, they'll realize that too, one day.
Oil is a weapon by itself (no need for bombs) and it could be used (like it had before) to force countries into crisis, but that woudn't be a bad idea anyway. We have to get out of this dependancy.
