Can allow you to do more with the Signal you do have, the fundamental limit of signal is still the key limitation. Also, my limited inderstanding of interferometry includes the notion that the quantum state of the photons gathered is extremely important, and not replacable by digital computation over the data-points. IE, in the 'observation' you lose the quantum properties that are vital for interferometry. Again- largely outside of my expertise, just what I'm given to undersand.
so you can use any number of methods relating to image processing to improve immagery, but you will likely never match what you can do with the fundamental physics of photons. Perhaps when Quantum computing is matured and the photons gathered can somehow be input to a quantum state machine, the 'best of both worlds' can be explored- but this is entirely speculation on my part.
There is no set of technologies within our reach or grasp that can allow man to travel to the stars and visit other planets. However, what we can do, in the meantime, is push telescope technology to the point where we can map the landscape from afar, so that when we are ready we can send missions to the places we've identified as most interesting or most potentially habitable.
