Once upon a time...
I could effortlessly parallel park, in one try, 6" from the curb, with 1 ft of clearance at each end, in one try.
The last time I remember trying it took me 2-3 tries and I was about a foot from the curb.
It is a systematic thing but it requires regular practice.
