...one totaled my apartment when I was a student. A huge century-old live oak just toppled over on a windless night. One branch came into the living room and hit the couch dead center, folding it up like a matchbook. Another hit my roomate's bedroom and demolished his bed; fortunately, he was at his girl friend's that night. I woke up staring at the stars through a hole in the roof, covered in fiberglass insulation from the attic. A branch two feet in diameter was lying next to my waterbed, within easy reach. It took out the electricity, so it took me a while to locate a flashlight and figure out what was going on.
