Your issue about taking companies private is questionably applicable to the Guys which built their companies and took them public. The issue with CEO pay is also primarily with the hired gun CEO's who receive large pay for mediocre performance. The guys that own the company are entitled to whatever pay they want. The CEO's who receive large pay packages without explicit shareholder approval are the issue especially without great performance. Building companies from nothing to major name brands certainly constitutes superior performance.
