I'm seeing almost exactly the same response in Bush as Schwarzenegger had after he took the shellacking in that special election. Paid off big time for Arnold here in California, both in elections and popularity polls, but I'm also not looking forward to any slowdown in California's rush to socialism.

Kiss any meaningful immigration reform goodbye. It was tough enough with a Republican House.

Good news: I think Bush will hang tough on no surrender in Iraq, and keeping the tax cuts. I could be unpleasantly surprised.

More good news: Now when the entitlements come up, especially the Medicare budget crisis, Democrats are going to have to come up with something other than a tap-dance to "Tea For Two."
