Marvelous news
but totally expected. Afganistan was, at the time of our attack, miserably broken. It's amazing it still had a name to assign to it.
In many ways our incursion into Afganistan was more like a drug intervention family members might do to a strung out addict. Those things are much more effective if the individual has truly hit rock bottom.
I just saw the film "Kandahar" the other day for the first time. Although a bit repetitious at times and a bit slanted from a feminist perspective, it gives a tiny glance into just how wacked out the country was before 9/11. I'd recommend people see it to understand just how far away culturally we are from the Mideast.
