If Pelosi walks half of what she's talking right now as far as moderation is concerned, I will indeed be pleasantly surprised.

The Far Left faction of the Democrats wants Bush's guts for garters, and will go after any Democratic leader that doesn't make that a top priority, along with immediate surrender in Iraq and a long list of other leftist fantasies. The leftist blogosphere is already fuming at Pelosi and others.

Fortunately, I think this faction may be outweighed by Democrats who believe that the recent election was a push to the center, and if they want to stay in power, they need to stay rational.

We'll see what happens. The dog finally caught the fire engine, and unlike the Republicans of '94, they really had no plan going in.
