"Our progress has been uneven, but progress is being made. Our strategy can be summed up this way: As the Iraqis stand up, we will stand down."

That statement is about 18 months old.

Apparently they're standing up. This was apparently done with the connivance of the police, if not actually by the police. I'm sure they were American trained and equipped, part of the force Bush is counting on to provide security for the government.

"Scores kidnapped from Baghdad institute. 5 senior Iraqi police officers arrested in connection with mass abduction."

What can you do in a country that behaves like this? Is this worth having Americans and innocent Iraqis dying for? Spending a trillion dollars to create this situation?
