"That was fast. A mere two days after Democrats capture Congress claiming they wouldn't raise taxes, former Treasury Secretary Robert Rubin tells them they should do so anyway."

Assume the incredible. A responsible federal government. Doesn't someone have to start paying off the debt the spend and borrow party has run up? Again?

The rich have become richer, the poor poorer, the government is in competition with private enterprise for borrowing, the balance of payments has come to the point that the Chinese have to buy US bonds so we can buy more from China, and someone has to pay. The Rs don't have the will or interest to do it, knowing some D will come along eventually.
