If it eases your angst, fine. I really would like to see your suffering ease. However interesting 3rd parties and independent movements might be (and I admit Ross Pea-rot was interesting) it would appear you don't fully understand the functioning of a political party.
Political parties are simply an organizing principle for political policies to serve a philosophical (general) agenda. In the US we have found a two party system the most efficacious vehicle for doing this.
It oversimplifies to say the Gops want policies to favor the rich and big business and the Dems want government to serve and protect the middle and lower classes of society and attempt to elevate them upwards. This simplification is on target however, but the statement of agenda omits the details and we both know the devil is in those details. The example is only weakened because the details are always in flux and changing and often overlap.
The US system has consistently shown that progress has come only in the treaking of the policies by compromise generally, and trial and error failures and then corrections. This probably explains while the American electorate seems to like to change hegemony and maintain divided government whenever possible.
So Tom, don't look for any government of one, unless that is one writ large to reflect a majoritarian view. And please remember a government by one is called a monarchy, dictatorship, or Theocracy. When you have a divine right annointed appointed rule----oh, yeh. That would be George W. Bush's reign wouldn't it.
