"year-end rollover"?
I could hardly believe my eyes when I read this:
The shuttle's on-board flight control software was not designed to operate during a year-end rollover. Engineers are concerned about possible unknown consequences if Discovery's launch is delayed to the point where a flight across the 2006/2007 transition becomes an issue.
Uhhhh... are we talking about something like the Y2K problem? Will the mission elapsed timers reset to zero on New Year's Eve? Will the intertial tracking platforms suddenly forget where they've been and where they are? What the heck is this all about? Anybody know?
