I once saw a (slightly bulgy) tin can of peaches that was reputed to be 30 years old.

I would not have tried the peaches. But if you can pressure seal peaches in tin for 30 years without trying too hard (using 40s technology), you should be able to accomplish much more when you put your mind to it.
