I can not understand how molecules like carbon dioxide could cause such effects, unless of course the atoms were radioactive, in that case the extra energy could accelerate the molecules to escape velocity.
If there are enough molecules escaping into space from the Earth's atmosphere, then that would cause simultaneous decrease of the upper atmospheric density and temperature.
