The best Idea I have heard for trying to resolve the Iraqi issue

Gingrich, of all people, is on meet the press. Among some general platitudes (IE: 'We need to find a new way forward', etc) about what we should do to turn things around and fix the country, was one stellar idea- in fact one of the best I have ever heard:

He suggests we should do an FDR style plan (he even sites FDR!): Give every Iraqi who wants one a good job, with benefits and pay, rebuilding their own country. He suggests, I believe, to let the local traditional powerstructure (shieks, etc) have a major role in determining what projects need to be undertook, and what priority, etc.

Then he started showing his regular plumage with talk about restricting civil rights...

I agree with a new Deal for Iraq. Where there is work, pay, cooperation and progress that every Iraqi can feel a part of, there is hope.

Few people outside the midwest know how close we were to civil war after the great depression, dust-bowl, and the boom-and-bust agriculture cycle of the early 1900's. Woody Guthrie and Lead Belly didn't pop out of a vacuum. The FDR plan likely saved our country. Perhaps it can work for Iraq.
