Just barely

I head an exchange in which CapCom told the Shuttle that touchdown would be almost exactly at local sunset.

I watched NASA TV, and man oh man, they carried a feed from a cockpit cam (right seat, I think) showing the heads-up display and the view forward. The weather looked awful, and it was white-knuckle time waiting for the runway to loom out of the clouds...then suddenly there it was, we were just a few hundred feet up ("we", don't ya love it--but it was like being there), and a few seconds later flared out and touched down. Whoever was producing the NASA-TV feed has some talent: At the exact moment the Shuttle floated over over the end of the runway, he/she cut to the camera on the ground, showing the Shuttle flying overhead and down on to the runway. The audio track, too, was so right-on, that I found myself wondering if they weren't using a recording of a jetliner landing at a civilian runway. Quite a show!
