<qa href="http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/16351566/">British troops raid renegade Iraqi police unit.
It just makes sense. When the police can't be trusted to impartially enforce the laws, when the army can't be trusted to attack insurgencies and support the government, when the Ministry of Interior, including security, is used to kidnap, torture and kill people based upon their religion, there is no internal solution to the violence.
Doesn't take much to figure this out.
When the government of a democracy is limited to a Green Zone, a small part of the capital, there's no chance.
When that government can last only as long as it is propped up by a foreign army, there is no democracy, and no chance to the end of violence.
And it is becoming more and more evident to more and more people that the only remaining factor in the war in Iraq is George Bush's ego. As the pollster said at the end of 2005 regarding GWB, "There is no place to go for him but up."
Proved him wrong, didn't he??!!
Arf
When this is possible, there can't be a "stand up - stand down" solution to Iraq.
