Space/Science » in reply to Going to Mars?

If NASA is serious about a longer trip to Mars, there are possibilities.

If they want to go the long, slow route, I may be their man. I find myself getting up later and later, love naps, and am pretty darned alert when I'm not sleeping late or taking a nap. And if they scheduled it during football season, I'd be happy watching the games. Beam 'em up, Scotty!

I'm in no hurry. The process is as much fun as the result, anymore, and it's nice to see things unfold.

Which is different from when I was younger. Life was a rush, hurry, and outcomes the only important thing.

NASA needs me. I wouldn't even need anyone else along. I'm used to living alone, mostly alone, anyway, contentedly belch and fart with nary an 'excuse me'. Email, internet access, and the dog's ear to scratch and I'm set. A few books on CDs in print for bedtime stories, and a few recorded, and I could kick back and relax.

Well, there may be a slight problem. Less of a problem than it used to be, however. I'm sure there's a workaround, though.

I've been researching RVs, anyway, with an eye to getting one. Maybe NASA could provide the ultimate RV. Would want a full bathroom, single bed, desk, and microwave.

I wonder who I'd talk to about this. They need contented astronauts, and I'd be one contented SOB. As long as I could harass a conservative or two along the way.
