re: Our fruit trees are starting to bud.

"If we have a sudden cold snap, how do you feel about no apples and pears?"

I would feel bad, I like apples.
But you are talking about weather not global warming. *Serious* global warming means peaches can grow in New York. You will have changing weather and changing regional climate in Warming periods and in Cooling periods, but you will get more extreme weather in Cooling periods- you will also get more periods of drought.
The most significant greenhouse gas on planet earth [for at least the last 1/2 billion years- and in the future] is water vapor. The only supposed significance of CO2 is that it would increase the amount of water vapor globally- water vapor is not considered by definition to be a forcing component in greenhouse gas. Whereas CO2 is labelled a major forcing element- because water vapor is thought only react to such things as increases and deceases in CO2 and results from such things as large scale changes in land use [in other words CO2 becomes significant by how it's defined]. The theory of global warming is CO2 increase will result in increases of water vapor, whereas the increases of global CO2 levels which **result** historically from increases in global temperature are ignored with much misdirection and hand waving as the dingbats can manage.

ANYHOW, the increase in the amount of greenhouse gas [which is largely water vapor] will cause temperate regions and polar region to increase in average temperature. Whereas tropical region are already mostly saturated with this major component of greenhouse gases and therefore will not see much increases in this region's average temperature.
If you were to see increases mostly in tropical zones rather than temperate zones, this might indicate some kind increase in solar energy coming from the sun, rather than anything to do with any enhanced greenhouse affect.

So, such things more hot summers, hurricanes, heat waves and or brief periods severe cold during the winter [or summer] are not indications of more greenhouse affect. If Earth had significantly more greenhouse affect one could expect less temperature variation or more moderate/mild temperature on average.
