Listening to him, trying to take him seriously, I wondered how he could be so glib as to suggest we fix HIS problems. Really, can you imagine a friend or child of yours making such a big mistake and then asking everyone around him to help him fix it? (Hey, at least Jack Abramoff ADMITS where he went wrong and is now sitting in a jail cell).
And the smug little bastard bites his lip, curtails that smug grin of his and in his best diplomatic reading voice asks the American people to bear with him one more time. Boy, my son would have LOVED his speech writer growing up! (Not really, but you get my point).
How far off he was from the "axis of evil", WMD's everywhere ready to pounce on our cities and his rah-rah speech to go to war.
How can you say, "reduced to extremity"? I noticed of all the things he said he wanted to fix, none of what he addressed were the unlimited price gouging, poor mismanagemnet of our tax paid "reconstruction" funds and the actual stupidity of a notion you can go into the desert and tame a bunch of scorpions, and bring them democracy when they are still lobing off heads of their own people.
Oh, I forgot, they have oil.
I wouldn't doubt that even if we train 100,000 more of their soldiers and police force that One Man doesn't become their new leader and turn out to be WORSE than Sadam to keep those Iraqis in line.
We'll bow out and give him what he needs.
